Food in the City - Education
Click here for a Food in the City Brochure.Imagine a place in your neighborhood where you can get together with your neighbors to learn how to grow your own food: tomatoes, lettuce, corn, apples, grapes, cabbage, peppers, cucumbers, turnips, peas, beans, radishes, carrots, potatoes, beets, squash, garlic, onions, broccoli - the untold bounty of nature at your fingertips.
Now imagine a community kitchen where you can share recipes and learn how to store, prepare and preserve that food: drying, freezing, "putting up" juices, jams, jellies and preserves, making catsup and tomato sauce, fruit pies and deligthful salads with a mix of sweet greens and other veggies.
Add a place where you can teach others your favorite recipes, passing them forward to another generation. Friends and neighbors sharing their families' heritages, re-knitting community.
