URBAN FARM COLLECTIVE
In 2011, Urban Farm Collective became a program of Oregon Sustainable Agriculture Land Trust (OSALT). This partnership provides the UFC with the ability to accept tax-exempt charitable contributions and grants, while helping OSALT achieve it’s research goals of developing sustainable practices for the production and distribution of food and it’s educational goals of teaching people how to grown their own food organically. Urban Farm Collective now has 14 gardens in NE Portland.
Trillium Garden
Trillium Garden is a community garden located in the Albina neighborhood. The site operates on a collective model with honorable harvests, shared beds, and a space for everyone to learn and explore. All experience levels are welcome.
Trillium Garden started as a school garden for Trillium Charter School, which used to be located a few blocks away. The City Repair Project built a beautiful cob house one year as part of the Village Building Convergence, which now acts as our tool shed. The garden has switched hands a few times, and is one of the Urban Farm Collective sites.
We are working to turn the garden into a certified backyard habitat and have been removing invasives and planting beautiful natives all around the perimeter of the garden. We aim to increase local food security and sovereignty in the Albina neighborhood.

Grasslands Garden
In March 2019 a large grassy plot was donated to the UFC and Grasslands Garden emerged! In July 2019 the Oregon Tradeswomen built a shed onsite. Around the same time we also gained access to water onsite! We grow vegetables, flowers, herbs, and fruit. This is a great space for volunteers to share their ideas or take on a project of their own.
Future plans are almost boundless here at Grasslands. We hope to integrate rainwater collection, introduce pollinator habitats, and fruits trees. In 2020 we hope to start collecting recycled materials to create a sturdy greenhouse for year round growth! There’s so much potential at Grasslands and we look forward to expanding with community involvement.
Fat Radish Garden
SE Portland community garden, free and open to all!
This location has a beautiful mix of annuals and perennials, where volunteers practice organic and permaculture-inspired methods of land care.
